SEVEN SHORTER & SON D'OYLY CARTE OPERA CHARACTER JUG


These jugs were originally designed by the Burslem pottery firm Shorter & Sons in 1940 when principals from the D'Oyly Carte Company were photographed in their costumes and in poses that they felt best represented their characters. Jugs include:-

Major General in The Pirates of Penzance
Pirate King, Pirates of Penzance
Don Alhambra, Gondoliers
Duchess of Plaza, Gondoliers
Little Buttercup, HMS Pinafore
Pirate Maid, Pirates of Penzance

All in good condition with no damage.
