Offered is a striking vintage West German art-pottery vase, model 7531-20, dating to approximately the 1970s.
This highly sculptural vase features a wonderful combination of deep cobalt-blue glossy glaze, mustard/ochre textured glaze and dark brown/olive relief. The body is decorated with three horizontal bands of rich blue geometric panels separated by heavily textured raised areas, giving the piece the bold architectural appearance associated with the celebrated West German Fat Lava pottery movement of the 1960s–1970s.
The vase has an unusual cylindrical form with a broad shoulder, raised neck and substantial loop handle. The combination of the strong cobalt blue and mustard yellow/ochre glaze is particularly striking and displays beautifully with Mid-Century Modern, 1970s, Scandinavian Modern and contemporary interiors.

The model number and construction are consistent with West German pottery of the period. The form and glaze treatment are particularly suggestive of Carstens Tönnieshof, although the manufacturer cannot be conclusively confirmed from the surviving impressed mark, so I have not represented the attribution as certain.

Excellent vintage condition.
There are no chips, cracks or repairs anywhere on the vase. The glaze is exceptionally well preserved, with only the minor surface characteristics and variations inherent to the original textured ceramic glaze. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
A particularly handsome and substantial example of vintage West German art pottery, with a distinctive geometric design and exceptional cobalt-blue and ochre glaze.
