Vintage Soviet Vostok “Snowflake” 17 Jewels Mechanical Watch — Made in USSR

An attractive and unusual vintage Soviet Vostok mechanical wristwatch featuring the distinctive **“Snowflake” dial**, one of the more interesting dial designs found on vintage Vostok watches.The highlight of this example is its beautiful silver/white dial with a very subtle, almost translucent snowflake pattern. Unlike many Snowflake examples with a stronger blue or turquoise design, the snowflake on this watch appears extremely light and changes in visibility depending on the angle and lighting. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.

The watch features a hand-wound 17-jewel Soviet mechanical movement, rotating bezel, red center seconds hand, and characteristic vintage Vostok case and screw-down caseback marked “ВОДОНЕПРОНИЦАЕМЫЕ”.

Approximate measurements:

* Case diameter without crown: 38.25 mm

* Lug-to-lug: 40.48 mm

Condition

Vintage pre-owned condition with genuine signs of age and use.

The dial has visible age-related patina and spotting. The Snowflake design is unusually pale/subtle and is best visible under certain lighting conditions.

The crystal has numerous scratches and surface wear. The case and bezel show scratches, wear and loss of finish consistent with age. The hands and luminous material show natural aging.

The movement also shows age-related marks and some localized oxidation/corrosion visible in the photographs.

The watch is currently running. No guarantee is made regarding accuracy, power reserve or water resistance. 

The watch has  not been restored, and the dial has been left in its aged condition.

A very interesting piece for collectors of Soviet watches, vintage Vostok watches and unusual USSR dial variations.
