This striking studio portrait captures a beautiful young Elizabeth Barnes at four years old dressed in an exquisite, tiered lace dress paired with an elaborate, oversized floral-trimmed bonnet.

Elizabeth was born into a highly prominent life of luxury and social standing as the daughter of Sidney B. Barnes and Mary Barnes of Little Rock, Arkansas. Her father was an esteemed local attorney who served as the Clerk of the United States District Court and a prominent master in chancery, establishing the family's distinguished position in Southern society.

Elizabeth led a charmed life as she was the oldest child in the family, followed by her younger brothers, George Alexander Barnes and Edward Barnes. She would later grow up to attend Vassar college and become leading woman in their theater department, graduating and marrying Wilford A Mason in 1922 and they would move to Michigan and have three boys.
