A striking antique cobalt blue glass poison bottle, measuring approximately 162mm tall. Heavily embossed “POISONOUS” and “NOT TO BE TAKEN”, with strong vertical ribbing and a beautiful deep blue colour.
The ribbed/tactile design and distinctive coloured glass were deliberately used on poison bottles to help distinguish dangerous contents from ordinary medicine bottles.
🕰️ Age:
Likely late Victorian to early 20th century, circa 1890–1920. Comparable cobalt poison bottles with this style of embossing and ribbing are generally dated around the turn of the century.
