An Orthoceras is a type of Nautiloid that lived during Devonian times. This fossil is embedded in Marble and was dug in a quarry in Morocco. There are lots of other fossil fragments also in the marble. When alive this creature had a head similar to a squid. It would have looked like a squid with a long skinny ice cream cone shape shell. The flesh of course would have decomposed and all we are left with is the shell. They hunted in swarms of thousands and even top predators got out of the way when the swarm was coming.
