CHER "Goddess of Pop" Singer Take Me Home Tour 1980 Tahoe Concerts Advertisement

LOS ANGELES TIMES, Sept. 21, 1980 (an original vintage newspaper leaf from the Calendar section)  This offering consists of four complete pages (two double-sided sheets on one single leaf) featuring a collectible print advertisement for upcoming live performances by "CHER" at Caesars Tahoe on one of the four pages.

In addition to the feature concert ad, which captures the era's unique promotional graphic design and typography, the surrounding pages provide a fascinating cultural snapshot of late 20th-century entertainment. Printed on authentic aged newsprint with genuine vintage toning, this original leaf is not a modern reprint, making it an ideal candidate for custom framing, local history display, or inclusion in a dedicated rock or pop culture memorabilia collection.

Experience music history in the making with authentic, original newspaper advertisements capturing the opening-night premieres of legendary live concert performances, sourced straight from the entertainment capital of the world.

Background: During her eight-night engagement at Caesars Tahoe from September 25 through October 2, 1980, Cher delivered a lavish, high-energy spectacle as part of her Take Me Home Tour, seamlessly blending her solo disco hits like "Take Me Home" with rock covers and cabaret numbers that reflected her concurrent era fronting the hard-rock band Black Rose. The extravagant production featured iconic Bob Mackie costume designs requiring more than a dozen outfit changes—with Cher rarely wearing any ensemble for longer than eight minutes—alongside flamboyant stage props such as a mechanical bull named "El Toro" and a giant high-heeled shoe slide. The show was further elevated by mid-performance interludes from famous drag impersonators Kenny Sacha (as Bette Midler) and J.C. Gaynor (as Diana Ross), who entertained the audience during Cher's rapid wardrobe shifts before joining her on stage for a finale rendition of "Friends."

Historical reports may be beautiful or ugly, but they are always informative. While we rejoice in the beautiful (heroic, discovery, amazing feats, etc.), we at History's Newsstand also offer "the ugly" for we are determined to learn from the wrongs of the past - understanding, to do so, we must be willing to look these wrongs directly in the face and shout "NO MORE!". It is for this reason many Black Americans collect historic slave ads, Jews collect reports regarding the Holocaust, women collect coverage of the Women's Suffrage Movement, etc.. If you find any to be offensive, we agree! Hopefully this is an indication we are moving in the right direction.
