‘U-Boat Killer’ is Captain Macintyre’s personal account of the grim struggle which finally brought the German submarine service to its knees and saved a valiant Britain in a dark and desperate hour.

His experiences cover the greater part of the Battle of the Atlantic during which he commanded Escort Groups and earned the DSO on no less than three occasions and the DSC.  The ships her commanded during that period accounted for the destruction of seven U-boats.

Through his eyes we glimpse the stunning savagery of the battle for the Empire’s lifeline.  If the Allies had lost control of the sea to Hitler’s navy, all Britain’s valour and resolution would have been to no avail, for she could not have continued the battle on to victory without the flow of essential supplies across the Atlantic.

‘U-Boat Killer’ is a gripping and moving tribute to Britain’s mighty destroyer force and the men who manned them.

This 1976 paperback edition book is in very good overall condition considering its age however there are some signs of wear to the cover in the form of bumps, knocks, rubbing and marks to the edges and corners (see photograph).  All pages are present, tightly bound, and free from tears, creases, and any significant marks other than some typical light age-related discolouration to the page edges.  This paperback runs to 176 pages (20.5cm x 13.5cm).
