Density Pycnometer with Standard GB 3186-82 for Paint Coating Ink Varnish Test
Attention!!!
- Please clean the specific gravity cup immediately after use, dry it or dry it.
- It is best to apply some protective oil and store it in a box at room temperature.
Product Parameters:
- Capacity: 37 ml, 50 ml, or 100 ml
- Thermometer: Graduation of 0.1 °C, accuracy of 0.2 °C
- Water Bath or Constant Temperature Requirements: When high test precision is required, the temperature should be maintained within ±0.5 °C of the test temperature; for production control, it should be maintained within ±0.2 °C of the test temperature.
- Analytical Balance or Electronic Scale: Accuracy capable of reaching 0.2 mg
- Sampling Standard: Carry out sampling in accordance with the provisions of the national standard GB 3186-82.
- Note: The model (37/50/10o) paint specific gravity cup (density cup) is designed and manufactured in accordance with GB 6750-86 Determination of Density of Paints and Varnishes. It is used to determine the density (also referred to as specific gravity) of liquid paints, varnishes, and related products at a specified temperature.

Testing Procedure:
- Clean the specific gravity cup with a solvent that leaves no residue after evaporation, and dry it.
- Weigh the specific gravity cup at room temperature (weigh it together with the lid). Thedifference between the two weighing results must not exceed 0.5mg.
- At a temperature below the test temperature but not more than 1℃ lower, fil the cup withdistilled water (strictly preventing bubble formation).
- Place it under constant-temperatureconditions until the temperature of the cup and its contents stabilizes. Then, using an absorbentmaterial, wipe away any overflowed liquid and the exterior of the cup.
- Immediatelyweigh thecup filledwith distilled water, accurate to 0.001% of its mass.
- Determination of test density: Repeat the above steps using the sample in place of thedistilled water.
- Density calculation: Calculate the density P1 of the sample at the test temperature using thefollowing formula:
- P1 = (M2 - M0) /V P1- density. g/ml
- M2- mass of the specific gravity cup with the sample, g
- M0- mass of the empty specific gravity cup, g
- V-volume of the specific gravity cup, ml
- T-test temperature ℃
Specific Gravity Cup Volume Calibration:
- Due to changes in environmental temperature, humidity, pressure, and other conditions, as well as the physical and chemical properties of the metal cup itself, the volume of the specific gravity cup may undergo slight changes. When high measurement accuracy is required, the cup volume should be verified periodically. The method is as follows:
- V = (M1 - M0) / P
- Where:
- V-volume, ml
- M1-mass of the specific gravity cup with water, g
- M0-mass of the empty specific gravity cup, g
- P-density of water at 23 °C or other temperatures (see table below), g/ml
