Vintage Indian Terracotta Krishna Radha Figures with Cow.  Mid-century Folk Art from Puducherry.  Mid 60's - 70s.

A beautifully expressive vintage South Indian terracotta sculpture depicting Krishna with Radha in the classic Venugopala, flute-playing form, accompanied by a sacred cow.

Handmade in the Puducherry / Tamil Nadu region, likely from the Villianur terracotta tradition, this piece reflects a long-standing lineage of devotional folk sculpture. The figures are modelled in clay and hand-painted in vivid traditional pigments.

Krishna is shown with blue complexion and flute, symbolising divine love, while Radha stands beside him as the embodiment of devotion. The cow behind reinforces Krishna’s identity as Govinda, protector of nature and cattle.

Dating to the mid-20th century, circa 1960s–70s, the sculpture shows surface wear and paint loss consistent with age and devotional handling, adding to its character and authenticity.

A charming and evocative piece of Indian folk religious art, ideal for collectors of South Asian sculpture or interior display.

Terracotta statues such as these are widely sought after for display in boutique hotels and contemporary interiors, as demonstrated at Villa Helena in Puducherry. LAST THREE IMAGES.
