Superb Large Burl Wood Shikiita Display Stand / Tray, Natural Form <ZK82>

A striking and substantial Japanese shikiita display board, crafted from a single slab of richly figured burl wood. The naturally contoured edge preserves the organic form of the tree, while the surface has developed a deep amber-brown patina through age and careful use. The dramatic grain movement and rugged outer rim create a powerful sculptural presence.

In Japan, shikiita have long been used as display bases for flower vessels, okimono, incense utensils, bonsai, and tea ceremony objects. This exceptional large example is particularly suitable for a bronze vase, stone ornament, or seasonal arrangement, and may also serve as a low tea tray or centerpiece.

It appears to be an older hand-finished example with fine natural wear and character. A rare decorative object in its own right.

Condition: Good antique condition with age-related wear, scratches, old shrinkage lines, and natural imperfections to the wood, all consistent with age and use. Please refer to photographs.
