Rare Vintage Silver Floral Final Teaspoon, National Trust for Scotland, Edinburgh 1992

The National Trust for Scotland registered their maker mark at the Edinburgh Assay office 1985, it lapsed in 2005. They produced items such as boxes, letter openers, thimbles and spoons. The silver tied to the National Trust for Scotland often feature special commemorative designs, such as deer and forest motifs or luckenbooth terminals.

This is a truly delightful and unusual spoon. The shape of the bowl is traditional, but the reeded looped handle attaches to the bowl by three slender bars on the underside, leaving open space between. The looped finial holds a stylised floral blossom.

The hallmark has NTS inside a trilobed cartouche, the-three-towered Edinburgh castle stamp, a lion rampant indicating sterling silver and the date letter ‘S’ for 1992.

The spoon measures approx. 9.5cm by 2cm and weighs 8.6g.

The spoon is in excellent vintage condition.
