Item has been on display previously, but shows little to no signs of wear as a result of this from what I can see, although please do feel free to check for yourself to make sure you are happy before purchasing! Item does have a battery compartment which suggests at some point it would have had some functionality, however for as long as I have owned this model it seems to do nothing when I put batteries in and turn it on despite the compartment not looking damaged at all, so I would assume that part of the model is non functional, but in my opinion better served as just a decorative piece anyway and it did not detract from my enjoyment of it, but worth noting in case this is important to you :)
