Description

An attractive antique Victorian/Edwardian porcelain moustache cup and matching saucer, dating to approximately 1890–1915.

This unusual set features a rare square-shaped cup with an integrated porcelain moustache guard (also known as a moustache protector), designed to prevent waxed moustaches from coming into contact with hot drinks. The matching square saucer complements the distinctive design, while the cup is decorated with a trailing ivy garland and the saucer with fern fronds, all enhanced by hand-applied gilt detailing.

The cup has an elegant angular handle and an impressed registration or pattern mark to the base, although no maker's name is present.

A charming and increasingly collectable example of late Victorian gentleman's tableware, ideal for collectors of moustache cups, antique porcelain or unusual tea ware.
