I hope you get your hands on some good Japanese stuff! ^^
Electric Guitar YAMAHA SG2000 RS, Manufactured in 1982, Yamaha SG Through-Neck Construction, Made in Japan, Red Sunburst
Based on the serial number, the pickup date can be identified as Showa 57 (1982), so we determine this instrument to be manufactured in 1982.
Since the frets originally had overbinding, it is difficult to determine their condition, but they are likely original. The nut may have been replaced.
The SG is a legendary Yamaha electric guitar.
This SG2000 was a high-end model of its time featuring a through-neck construction.
It does not feature the V-Sound System.
It features a maple and mahogany body with a maple and mahogany 3-piece neck mounted via a through-neck design. The fingerboard is ebony.
It is characterized by a fat sound with excellent sustain.
The nut width measures 43.1 mm.
With a measured weight of approximately 4.32 kg, it has that solid, substantial feel typical of an SG, but I believe it is relatively light among Yamaha SGs of this era.
It shows signs of age-appropriate wear and natural patina, including minor scratches and a slightly cloudy appearance.
There are pick marks on the pickguard.
The entire body has dents, scratches, and scuffs ranging in size from a pen tip to a grain of rice to a pea.
A pea-sized dent at the corner where the body back meets the side near the elbow is somewhat noticeable.
From the cutaway on the 1st-string side to the tip, and extending to the area near the waist on the 1st-string side, there is a continuous paint crack along the boundary between the top binding and the body side, with a noticeable step. There is no peeling.
There are slight buckle marks on the back of the body.
A whitish haze is visible across the entire back of the body.
There is a whitish haze on the tip of the headstock’s underside and across the entire headstock face.
The top of the body shows relatively little whitish haze, and the red sunburst color remains vivid.
In addition, there are minor scratches and dirt throughout the instrument resulting from playing.
The frets show no localized dents, and over 80% of the original frets remain. The truss rod has sufficient travel in both the tightening and loosening directions.
Functionality has been verified. Both output and controls are in good working order.
Weight: approx. 4.32 kg
Comes with a hard case.
