An original bronze commemorative pendant issued to celebrate the Coronation of King Edward VII in 1902. These small medals were sold as keepsakes and were commonly worn as pendants or attached to watch chains, making surviving examples popular with collectors of British royal memorabilia.
Following the death of Queen Victoria in January 1901, her son became King Edward VII. Although originally scheduled for June 1902, his coronation was postponed following illness and eventually took place at Westminster Abbey on 9 August 1902.
This medal records the important milestones of Edward VII's life and reign and was produced as an affordable souvenir of this historic royal occasion.
