Coherent Compass 315M laser system components set.
I built this to do large holograms but decided not to go that route anymore.
The 315M series is the only Compass series that has the legendary coherence length of several meters. This means you can produce very deep holograms or make the holo jump out of the frame theoretically by several meters.
I installed a 12VDC power supply into a nice aluminum case to power the system. There is a rubber plug next to the fuse that you can install an on-off switch so you don't have to plug it in every time to start.
The compass DPY 315M driver is an older model that was stored away for years. It will drive any of the 315M series laser heads.
The control box that I added to it, I built from plans on Sam Goldwasser's site " Sam's Laser Faq". You simply turn the knob to the power level wanted, press the momentary button to program that level into the driver then flip the diode switch (red light), then the TEC switch (green light) and the yellow light will flash as it begins to lase, after about a minute it will settle in and the yellow light will remain on.
I also made the ribbon cable assembly from a short piece of cable that was a free sample. It's shorter than the stock coherent cable but does the job.
I mounted the laser head to a robust heat sink but due to the power level I added a fan just in case. It comes with a 6V transformer plug as well.
Included are all the cables needed for the system to plug and play.
Though it is a 150mw model, it is currently doing 135mw. It should provide many run hours even more at a reduced power level. The power meter I tested it with was calibrated recently and has a brand new meter head and is very accurate.
