Stunning antique Chinese sculpture depicting a buffalo carrying a child lying on a lotus leaf. 

This hard stone piece, probably serpentine or nephrite jade, features a harmonious contrast between the dark tones of the buffalo and the light hue of the child and leaf.

The buffalo, a symbol of strength, patience, and prosperity, occupies an important place in Chinese culture, especially in Taoist and Buddhist traditions. "The child, often associated with wisdom and innocence, evokes the relationship between man and nature, a central theme in Asian philosophy."
