Antique J.W. York & Sons cornet, "New Model Monarch," serial #14338. Based on York's known serial number progression, this dates to approximately 1904–1905, making it roughly 120 years old. Made in Grand Rapids, Michigan — the Monarch was York's step-up model below their top "Professional" line.
Silver plated brass with the original engraved bell (New Model Monarch / Made by J.W. York & Sons / Grand Rapids). Plating shows honest age-appropriate wear and light patina but no major verdigris or heavy brass bleed-through.
Recent servicing: Chemically cleaned, all valve springs and corks replaced, slides greased, valves oiled, light polish done.
Playing condition: Valves are smooth and responsive thanks to the fresh springs and corks. The 3rd valve tuning slide is currently stuck — everything else moves freely. A local tech should be able to free this without issue; priced accordingly.
Included: Cornet body and one mouthpiece.
Not included: No case.
Sold as-is given the stuck slide; happy to answer condition questions before you buy.
