What is Engine Cylinder Head Gasket?
An engine cylinder head gasket seals combustion pressure between the cylinder head and the block while also separating the coolant and oil passages that cross the deck. It is the most heavily loaded gasket in the engine and has to survive combustion temperature, cylinder pressure and repeated heat cycling. Failure shows up as coolant loss, overheating, white exhaust smoke or compression escaping between cylinders. This gasket is built to the bore size and deck layout of the specified engine so clamp load is distributed correctly.
