Offered is a J.W. York & Sons vintage Bb cornet, made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Serial number 38223 dates this instrument to approximately 1913–1914, based on published York serial number records.

This is a solid player-grade example of early American brass craftsmanship. The cornet has been recently chemically cleaned, oiled, and greased. All three valves move freely, all slides are free and moving, and the horn has been play-tested and plays very well.

The original engraved bell is marked “Made by J.W. York & Sons, Grand Rapids, Mich.” The silver finish and overall appearance show honest age and normal cosmetic wear consistent with a horn that is more than 110 years old.
