Pair of Handcrafted Sicilian Ceramic Art Tiles – Signed by Artist R. Notta – Made in Italy
Bring a touch of authentic Sicilian charm to your home with this beautiful pair of handcrafted ceramic wall tiles purchased in Sicily in the early 2000s.
Each tile features a colorful fruit motif inspired by traditional Italian majolica designs:
🍇 Red grapes
🍐 Golden pear with red flower
Both tiles are hand-signed R. Notta on the front and marked Villa Romana – Sicilia on the reverse. They also retain their original wall hangers for easy display.
The reverse side of the tiles features hand-written inscriptions identifying them from Villa Romana, Sicilia (commemorating the historic UNESCO World Heritage site Villa Romana del Casale).
They are stamped with "Bicottura Tradizionale / PIANA", confirming they were crafted using traditional Italian double-firing techniques on high-quality terracotta blanks. They include factory stamps for "Made in Italy" and "Brevettato" (patented backing design).
These decorative tiles look wonderful displayed together in a kitchen, dining room, wine cellar, breakfast nook, or Mediterranean-inspired décor. Please note that the clear plastic display stands shown in the listing photographs are for staging purposes only and are not included in the sale!
