Description

Original matching set of antique French vest (waistcoat) buttons with the accompanying SOLIDE PARIS brass buckle, dating to approximately pre 1920.

The six matching buttons feature an attractive die-stamped rosette motif with finely textured detailing. Their hollow two-piece construction and shanks are consistent with early 20th century European manufacture. The buckle is clearly marked SOLIDE PARIS and remains with the original button set.

Although the original garment did not survive, this matching ensemble has remained together and offers a glimpse into the refined craftsmanship of period French tailoring. Decorative sets of this quality were typically found on finely tailored garments worn by fashionable or affluent gentlemen of the era.

The buttons have a gold-tone finish over a metal alloy. An unmatched white replacement button, found with the set, is included.

Button diameter: approx. 5/8" (15 mm).

Condition

The brass buckle is in excellent antique condition with a clear maker's mark. The buttons remain structurally sound and display honest age-related wear, including light surface scratches and areas of finish loss consistent with long-term use. Wear varies slightly from button to button. The replacement white button shows expected age-related wear as well. Overall, this is a well-preserved and attractive original antique set.
