Rare Antique Silver & Glass Cruet Set, by Henry Perkins & Son,
London 1918.
This is an antique George V
sterling silver and glass condiment set. The collection includes a pepperette
(pepper shaker), open salt cellars and matching open mustard pot.
The
set features a distinctive, stylized Art Nouveau hand blown glass body with
flowing glass tear drop additions, the large drop has the tail trailing to the
base. The salt and mustard pots have an open top glass bowl mounted on a flared
silver foot. The glass body of the pepperette matches the companion pots
towards the base, rising to a narrowing neck that has a silver collar and
pierced cap. It too is mounted on a flared silver foot.
These
pieces were crafted by well-known and highly sought after British silversmiths,
Henry Perkins & Son. Each piece is fully hallmaked to the base, the cap of
the pepperette is also fully hallmarked. They were hallmarked at the London
assay office in 1918, with the maker mark for Henry Perkins & Son.
The
pieces have some age related wear, but are in good used antique condition,
please study the photos.
The
pepperette measures approx. 9.8cm tall by 5.9cm at the widest point, the salts
and mustard pots are approx. 5.5cm tall by 4,7cm at the widest point, they
weigh together 135.9g.
