Two volumes, bound in one.
Rebacked with leather spine and contemporary leather boards retained. Measuring approx. 31.2cm x 25.2cm x 5.4cm. The leather is a little grubby and unevenly faded. Corners little chipped and bumped. Extremities rubbed. Internally, marbled endpapers to front and rear, the front of which has armorial bookplate. Little faint pencil detail and ink mark to front blank and free endpaper verso. Some pale offsetting to title page. Pale scattered foxing to some sections and in places (a few leaves have darker spots, see photos). A couple of small dark or rust spots. Little offsetting to leaves adjacent leaves. Little light finger soiling/grubbiness. A few tiny marginal nicks. One leaf has closed marginal tear. Tiny ink correction to subscribers leaf. A few leaves are a little roughly trimmed to edges. Occasional pale mark, else overall the majority of contents are in reasonably clean and firm condition for age.

Engraved frontispiece portrait, and there are 9 further engraved plates, as called for, as well as several wonderful engraved decorative devices. 

An influential two-volume compilation of historical documents, relating to the 17th & 18th Centuries. Volume I, amongst other articles, famously contains a large biography of Sir William Cecil, Lord Burghley, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth, as well as memoirs, letters, wills, and epitaphs. Volume II contains a further 150 articles, several of which relate to Charles I, and the  English Civil War era. 

Edited by the English antiquarian and clergyman Francis Peck, published posthumously and features added biographical memoirs of Peck's life and corrections.

Shipping

  • We will gladly ship anywhere in the World.
  • We offer FREE UK domestic shipping, fully tracked and insured.
  • We use several services for overseas shipping, under 5kg usually shipped via Royal Mail Tracked. Heavier shipments or faster courier services are available, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferred method.
  • We combine shipping for multiple items (Please wait to be invoiced for multiple purchases for accurate costings).
  • We will also gladly hold purchased items to allow for larger combined shipments, (Please let us know before payment).
  • All shipping costs are weight dependent.

Packaging
All our books will be carefully and securely packaged in custom made book boxes (The majority of which are produced Carbon Neutral). The Bubble packaging and boxes are all recyclable, and most tape used is environmentally friendly (we are constantly researching ways to reduce our environmental impact without compromising safe, secure and affordable shipping). We aim to send all items within 24-48 hours of payment.
