About the Griffith Crab Microscope:

Ezra Hollace Griffith of Fairport, New York, was an active microscopyist and designer of microscopes, objective lenses, and accessories during the last quarter of the 19th century. He designed a microscope called the "Griffith Club Microscope." The Griffith Club Microscope is a unique travel microscope that is versatile in that its round base can be used as a preparation table for specimen slides. And another is its fine adjustment mechanism, which allows for limitless use of fine adjustment movements across the entire range of focusing by directly manipulating the rack and pinion for coarse adjustment with a worm wheel and tangent screw.
