SAM FURUKAWA has photographed narrow gauge trains all over the world, but his favorites remain the legendary 3'-gauge lines in Colorado and New Mexico.
His love of trains began with a Lionel 0 Gauge set at age 3. As a student, he photographed the final years of Japanese steam operation.
Sam was instrumental in establishing the Narrow Gauge Preservation Foundation, (page 174). Retired from a long career at the Microsoft Corporation, he now serves as a professor of Media Design at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.
