    About the set:
The 1919-21 W514 Hand Cut Strip Card set is possibly the most coveted and widely collected set of the 1920’s strip card era.  The artwork in this 124 card set (including 4 varitions) is generally more detailed than many of the competing 1920’s sets, making it more aesthetically comparable to the tobacco and caramel cards of the early 1900’s.

Aside from the detailed artwork, there are a few additional factors that give this set an advantage over primarily all other hand cut strip card sets:

    -          Shoeless Joe Jackson!  The 1919-21 W514 Shoeless Joe card is one of his last playing days cards, and generally the most coveted card in the set.

    -          Babe Ruth: The W514 set was produced right at the very beginning of the Curse of the Bambino!  This is Ruth’s first card as a New York Yankee, after he was traded from Boston to New York in December of 1919.

    -          Black Sox Scandal players!  The W514 set contains 7 of the 8 Chicago White Sox players that would later be banned from baseball for their part in fixing and intentionally losing the 1919 World Series against the Cincinnati Reds.  In addition to Shoeless Joe, there are cards from Eddie Cicotte, Happy Felsch, Chick Gandil, Lefty Williams, Buck Weaver, and Swede Risberg.  The only black sox scandal player missing is Fred McMullin.  All of these cards demand a huge premium.
