This is an exceptionally beautiful and authentic antique Imperial Japanese Army (IJA) "Gunto Military Sword Tsuba" (軍刀用鍔), masterfully crafted from heavy-duty solid brass during the pre-war early Showa period (1900–1939). The piece features a refined multi-lobed silhouette beautifully adorned with four traditional Japanese "Sakura" (Cherry Blossom) crests executed in crisp, high-relief engraving against a finely textured background. Although unsigned, this thick, robust guard stands as a prime specimen representing the formal regalia of historical Japanese officer swords.

Condition : Considering its significant historical age and active military nature dating back nearly a century, this military sword guard is in relatively good antique condition with its heavy brass structure and delicate sakura motifs beautifully preserved (exactly as pictured). As a genuine period relic, there are visible signs of historical weathering and display use overall, such as a natural mellowing/tarnishing of the brass tone, surface rubbing, minor scuffs, and micro-oxidation (green patina), which significantly enhance its authentic rustic charm and antiquity.
