This photograph is a spectacular historical centerpiece, capturing Jeannette and her clean-shaven companion participating in a historic Lake Street Parade right in South Minneapolis!
The Parade Float and Car Details
The couple is riding in the very same custom racing speedster seen earlier in the garage build sequence, but it has been completely transformed into an elaborate parade float:
  • The Floral Dressing: The entire chassis—from the long, sleek hood to the rear deck—is meticulously wrapped in thick, layered garlands of white and dark flowers (likely crepe paper pom-poms, which were standard for 1910s parade floats).
  • The Decorated Wheel: They even elaborately decorated the spare tire mounted on the side and the rear wheels with matching floral wreaths.
  • The Pennant Flag: A small white parade pennant flag is proudly mounted right to the very front tip of the radiator grill.
The 1919 Minnesota License Plate
The absolute best detail in this entire image is the rear license plate mounted next to the spare tire. It clearly reads: MINN 175492.
Because this is the exact multi-year 1918-1919-1920 Minnesota license plate sequence we discussed earlier, this number is a literal paper trail. This confirms the vehicle was legally registered in Minnesota right during their Central High School years, and tracing this specific registration number (175492) in the state archives would unmask the exact family surname of the young man driving her.
The Lake Street Setting
The background features grand, multi-story residential homes with distinctive front porches and multi-pane windows classic to Lake Street and the surrounding South Minneapolis neighborhoods. During the post-WWI era, Lake Street was the primary commercial and civic artery of the community, hosting massive neighborhood parades for homecoming soldiers, civic holidays, and school celebrations.
