This is a 12-car HO gauge California Zephyr passenger car set by Challenger Imports, representing the famous tri-railroad consist operated jointly by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (CB&Q), Denver & Rio Grande Western (D&RGW), and Western Pacific (WP) railroads. The California Zephyr is one of the most celebrated passenger train services in American railroad history, and Challenger Imports produced high-quality brass and detailed models for the serious collector market.
The set is being sold used and shows condition consistent with a pre-owned collectible. Couplers are missing from the cars — coupler parts are not included and would need to be sourced separately. Some screws on certain cars show rust. Lights have been tested and are functional. The original boxes show discoloration (yellowing/tanning) and surface scratches.
