Differences Between Dioded and Standard Relay
1. Dioded Relay (Built-In Flyback Diode)
This relay includes a built-in flyback diode.
When the relay coil switches OFF, the magnetic field inside the coil collapses and creates a high-voltage spike in the opposite direction. The built-in diode safely absorbs and suppresses this spike, helping to protect ECUs, BCMs, tracker outputs, alarm systems, CAN bus modules, and other sensitive electronics from voltage surges.

Important – Dioded Relay Polarity
• Pin 86 (Red) must be connected to Positive (+) • Pin 85 (Black) must be connected to Ground (-)
Incorrect polarity may blow a fuse or damage the control circuit. Please install according to the relay diagram included in the package.
2. Standard Relay (Without Diode)
The standard relay works the same as the dioded version, except it does not include reverse-polarity diode protection.
Benefits: • Non-polarity sensitive • Pins 85 and 86 can be connected either way • Suitable for all vehicle types
Without a suppression diode, the voltage spike created when the relay coil switches OFF can feed back into ECUs, BCMs, and CAN bus modules. The dioded relay helps prevent this.
