For your consideration is an authentic Swiss pewter wine flagon, known as a Stegkanne, featuring the rare "steg" or bridge-spout design. This piece was handcrafted in Lucerne, Switzerland, by the renowned Robbi (marked ROBZI) workshop, active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Historical Significance & Markings This flagon is rich with traditional Swiss touchmarks: Handle: Clearly stamped "LUCERNE ROBZI" with a double-headed eagle and the single key of Lucerne. Under Lid: Stamped with the "Crossed Keys" of St. Peter, a classic Swiss quality mark. Spout/Spigot: Embossed with a crowned "X" indicating a high-grade, durable alloy. Interior Base: Features a beautiful, raised floral rosette medallion. Bottom: handprinted model number "12489." Design & Craftsmanship The flagon showcases a classic baluster body with a stabilized straight spout and decorative "stitch-style" ribbing where the spout meets the body. The hinges for both the lid and the spout are in excellent, smooth working condition. Condition In good antique condition with a lovely, soft aged patina. There is one notable dent on the main belly and minor staining, surface scratches and small dings along the base and structure consistent with age and authentic use. No cracks or repairs.
