Offered here is an antique hand carved folk art dancing bear from Russia.

The puppet has nice flowing lines, an open roaring mouth, teeth and deep set eyes.

The back is strung with a cord, but the pull part is newer made of fishing line.

There is a hook behind his head so he can be hung.

He has an antique patina.

He was once mounted in a shadow box and a piece of wood is glued to his back so he was not flush on the board he was mounted on.  A hole was drilled in the bottom of the frame with the pull string coming out so he could dance while protected behind glass.
