Here are four tracks from one of the classic sessions of all
time when a combination of giants gathered in Rudy Van Gelder¹s studio for a
historic meeting on Christmas Eve afternoon, 1954. With Thelonious Monk and
three-quarters of the Modern Jazz Quartet (Jackson, Heath and Clarke) as his
accomplices, Miles blends sophisticated harmonic knowledge with raw,
spontaneous invention to produce extraordinary music. The two takes of
"The Man I Love" are quite different within their basic similarity.

Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb, Hank Mobley and John Coltrane join Miles Davis for a beautiful addition to the Davis canon.
"Someday" Is Now! Features The Last Studio Recordings With John Coltrane!
A beautiful addition to the Davis canon. Recorded over the course of three days in April 1961, Someday My Prince Will Come showcases Miles' second great rhythm section, here at the absolute peak of their telepathic interplay. Wynton Kelly, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb were as tight a unit as any ever formed, grooving so successfully that they went on to leave Miles and form the Wynton Kelly trio. Someday My Prince Will Come also includes some positively blistering solos from guest John Coltrane in his final recording with Miles. And Hank Mobley offers up some beautiful bluesy solos.
"The set opens with the title, a lilting waltz that nonetheless gets an original treatment here, despite having been recorded by Dave Brubeck. Kelly is in keen form, playing a bit sprightlier than the tempo would allow, and slips flourishes in the high register inside the melody for an 'elfin' feel. Davis waxes light and lyrical with his Harmon mute, playing glissando throughout. Mobley plays a strictly journeyman solo, and then Coltrane blows the pack away with a solo so deep inside the harmony it sounds like it's coming from somewhere else... there is much in the way of precision playing and a fine exposition of Miles' expansive lyricism." - Thom Jurek, allmusic

Conceived, Designed, and Manufactured for Collectors and Enthusiasts: Vinyl Jacket Features Exclusive Art
One of Miles Davis’ earliest recording sessions. The very first known instance of the famed trumpeter playing in an “open” style, and in a band with legendary tenor saxophonist Gene Ammons and drummer Art Blakey. Need any more be said? Very few jazz albums possess more historical importance and wow-inspiring significance than Bopping the Blues, which documents a 1946 session in which Davis supported a group and two singers, Earl Coleman and Ann Baker, in a splendid bop affair. Yes, it’s got that elusive Holy Grail quality.
Originally released by the UK label Black Lion, an imprint that specialized in resurrecting rare gems from US jazz and blues legends, Bopping the Blues marks what are indisputably Davis’ initial open-voiced contributions and a can’t-miss opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to get closer to the man and his music. Helmed by ORG Music, this historical reissue is afforded the ultimate in audiophile production standards, resulting in sonics and presentation befitting the museum-like worth of this record’s existence.
Mastered from the original master tapes at Bernie Grundman Studios by Chris Bellman and pressed at Pallas, the 180g LP was curated by legendary engineer Steve Hoffman and eq’d by Grundman himself. A better team you cannot find; every step involved serious quality-control measures to guarantee gorgeous sound. The superb vinyl jacket features exclusive artwork. Indeed, this is what being a collector is all about. The title may not be widely known to most, but this reissue preserves vital music that will be enjoyed by generations to come. Consider it a buried treasure that, miraculously, has resurfaced in better condition than that when it was originally made.

No harsh words of criticism for Miles' 1985 pop-soft jazz effort. While so-called die hard fans of Miles or jazz used adjectives such as "flop", "poor quality", and "worst", it is anything but...The only slight unstable choices he made was to do cover instrumentals of Michael Jackson's Human Nature and Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time at a time when the original songs were still fresh. Instead, he should have opted for writing a couple of original tunes himself (even if they were only going to be filler material---the key word being original). These two tracks ended up being played as light elevator music tunes in department or grocery stores. The rest of the album, however, showed that Miles could adapt to the changing times and styles of music in order to reach younger listeners as well. No longer was his music exclusive to hardcore jazz purists...Miles Davis is for the entire world !

MILES DAVIS SKETCHES OF SPAIN STEREO Limited Edition 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION LP!
Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time - Rated
358/500!
The most luxuriant and stridently romantic of all of Davis'
recordings, Sketches of Spain pairs Davis with arranger and composer Gil Evans,
with whom he had collaborated on several other projects, on a program of
compositions largely derived from the Spanish folk tradition. Recorded between
November 1959 and March 1960 - after Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley had left
the band - the album features performances by Paul Chambers, Jimmy Cobb and
Elvin Jones. Sketches of Spain is regarded as an exemplary recording of Third
Stream, a musical fusion of jazz, European classical, and styles from world
music.
For Sketches of Spain, Evans and Davis won the 1961 Grammy
Award for Best Original Jazz Composition. In 2003, the album was ranked number
358 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
"Along with Kind of Blue, In a Silent Way, and Round
About Midnight, Sketches of Spain is one of Miles Davis' most enduring and
innovative achievements... To listen to it in the 21st century is still a
spine-tingling experience, as one encounters a multitude of timbres,
tonalities, and harmonic structures seldom found in the music called
jazz." - Thom Jurek, AllMusic
