PROVENANCE & AUTHENTICATION
These pieces are documented as part of the Hội An Hoard, one of the most significant Southeast Asian maritime archaeology discoveries. The hoard has been authenticated by leading Asian ceramics specialists and has appeared in major auction sales worldwide. These particular boxes were valued by an accredited ceramics appraisal specialist at £70–80 GBP (~$95–107 USD) for the pair.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
The Hội An Hoard comprises ceramics from a merchant vessel lost in the 15th century, carrying Red River Delta blue-and-white wares. The shipwreck site yielded thousands of pieces, which have been distributed to museums, collectors, and the international market. Pieces from this hoard are highly sought after.
CONDITION NOTE:
As recovered maritime artifacts dating approximately 500+ years, these pieces show appropriate signs of age including minor glaze wear, firing variations, and the patina consistent with long-term seabed exposure. This is entirely normal and expected for authenticated hoard pieces.
