Baron Henri de Triqueti Collection-Marcus de Bye-3 Plates
from "Various Cows and Oxen"-Etching-Lugt 1304
Marcus de Bye (1638–1688) was a Dutch artist famous for
his animal etchings. He produced 3 set of Cows and Oxen prints with eight
plates for each set. All the plates are after the designs by Paulus Potter
(1625–1654). The current impressions are plate 5 and 6 in one set and plate 5
in another set (1657-1677, Hollstein Dutch 14, 18, 13).
The first and the third impression bear collector stamps
of Henry de Triqueti (Lugt 1304). The 3 prints are mounted on a mat and are in
good condition, The second one was trimmed around the image (plate number was
trimmed off). The paper has minor discoloration and foxing.
