DESCRIPTION:
Set of 3 different Chinese Peranaken Straits Nyonya porcelain bowls – two are hexagonal shaped and one is lobed. All feature hand painted enamels in traditional Chinese patterns.
- Large octagonal bowl - Turquoise exterior and interior. Features a yellow scalloped border at the top and multi-colored small flowers. Measures 6" across at the top. Marked "China" in red on the underside.
- Small octagonal bowl - Turquoise exterior and interior. Features panel bordered with two red lines with Yin yang & other symbols and yellow flowers. Measures just under 4" across at the top. Marked "China" in red on the underside.
- Small lobed bowl - white exterior with floral & butterfly motifs. Turquoise interior. Measures 4" wide across the top. Unmarked underside.
CONDITION: The small white lobed bowl has a shallow chip on the rim. The larger octagonal bowl has a very small, shallow chip on the rim and some fleabites in the glaze on the rim. There are glazing imperfections and pop marks on the exterior and interior, typical of hand-fired 19th-century porcelain.
