This is the PULLMAN STANDARD 8-1-2 SLEEPER CAR

In its heyday, Pullman built large numbers of heavyweight cars for General Service. These were unassigned , or "pool" cars, which Pullman used to meet seasonal or temporary traffic demands. Construction of General Service cars greatly decreased as heavyweight construction wound down in the early 1930s. Of the last 421 heavyweight Pullmans built, only nine were for General Service.
Based on the 242 cars built to plan #3979-A between 1928 and 1930. The model represents cars modernized in the 1930s with mechanical air conditioning, some of which ran into the early 1960s.
Some were converted to maintenance-of-way sleepers and used into the 1980s.
These fully assembled HO Scale cars feature scale dimensions and rivet details, factory-installed side door handrails, full detailed interiors, complete end, underbody and roof detail, scale set-back windows, working diaphragms, car name and number decals, correct trucks with RP-25 metal wheels for each car, factory-installed electrical pickups, removable roof with air conditioning ducts, working McHenry knuckle couplers and swinging drawbars to improve curve performance.
