Handmade Blue Tulle Dress from an Abandoned Historic Farmhouse
Discovered in the same long-abandoned farmhouse as the handmade wedding dress I recently listed.
The home belonged to a local art teacher and seamstress who passed away in the 1990s. The house sat untouched for decades. The roof eventually collapsed, nature slowly reclaimed portions of the property, and inside remained the contents of an entire creative life—artwork, fabrics, lace, sewing supplies, dolls, handmade clothing, and unfinished projects.
Among those treasures was this beautiful handmade blue dress.
Layers of soft seafoam tulle float over a satin lining, while delicate pearl accents decorate the gathered bodice. The color is difficult to describe—somewhere between Tiffany blue, sea glass, and Cinderella's ball gown.
Whether it was made for a prom, formal event, pageant, dance recital, or simply for the joy of creating, I don't know. The story has been lost to time.
What remains is a beautiful one-of-a-kind handmade garment rescued from a forgotten house filled with art and memories.
