The core characteristics of rough milling cutters (also known as wavy edge end mills or rough machining end mills) can be summarized as "being able to handle heavy loads, quickly remove chips, have low vibration, and high efficiency". It is designed specifically to remove a large amount of material in the shortest possible time.

Core design: Wave edge (rough skin), which is the most prominent feature of rough skin milling cutters.

Appearance: The blade is not a straight line, but has regular undulations like waves or chip grooves like threads.

Working principle: When cutting, these "ripples" will divide the originally wide chips into countless small fragments.

Benefit: The chip separation groove narrows the chips and allows them to be quickly discharged from the cutting area, avoiding blockages. At the same time, small debris is more easily washed away by the coolant and will not wrap around the tool or workpiece.

Processing performance characteristics
Extremely high Material Removal Rate (MRR):
It allows for much greater cutting depth (usually up to 1 times the tool diameter) and feed rate than regular milling cutters. This is its main value - extremely high efficiency in roughing.

Low cutting vibration:
Due to the breaking of long chips, the cutting force becomes very uniform, and there is no severe vibration caused by chip adhesion or irregular fracture like that of ordinary milling cutters. This makes the machining process smoother and can protect the spindle and tool holder.

High rigidity requirements for machine tools:
Because of the pursuit of deep and fast feed, it requires the machine tool to have good rigidity and sufficient power. If the rigidity of the machine tool is insufficient or the clamping force of the tool holder is not enough, it may not be able to exert its performance.
