On August 18, 2018, the Seattle Mariners defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4 in a dramatic 10-inning game at Safeco Field, winning on a rare walk-off balk.

Game Summary

The Early Lead: The Seattle Mariners jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI single from Nelson Cruz and a three-run home run by Kyle Seager off Dodgers starter Rich Hill.

The Dodgers Comeback: The Los Angeles Dodgers chipped away late in the game with solo home runs from Justin Turner in the 8th inning and Cody Bellinger in the 8th. In the 9th inning, Max Muncy hit a game-tying solo home run off Mariners star closer Edwin Diaz, forcing extra innings.

The Walk-Off Balk: In the bottom of the 10th inning, the Mariners loaded the bases against Dodgers reliever Dylan Floro. With Cameron Maybin on third base, Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner made a sudden movement toward the bag. The distraction caused Floro to flinch and separate his hands before stepping off the rubber. First-base umpire Andy Fletcher called a balk, automatically scoring Maybin to end the game.
