Vintage Thomas Jefferson Portrait Lithograph Print
Illustrated by J. Wilbur Gonterman (St. Louis, MO)
Up for sale is a stunning, mid-century vintage lithographic art print of President Thomas Jefferson.
This distinctive piece was created by celebrated St. Louis commercial illustrator J. Wilbur Gonterman (1890–1966). Gonterman was famous for his hyper-realistic charcoal and pencil portraits used for premium calendar portfolios and educational displays throughout the 1930s and 1940s. The dense shading and texture are so finely printed that the artwork closely resembles a hand-drawn original.
Presentation and Details:
- The Artwork: Depicts Jefferson in his iconic fur-collared coat. It features Gonterman's distinct cursive signature credit ("J. Wilbur Gonterman / St. Louis") alongside a printed reproduction of Jefferson’s own historical signature.
- The Frame: Measures 16.5 inches tall by 13 inches wide. It is made of contemporary solid oak wood with a beautiful grain pattern.
- The Mount: The original vintage print paper is smaller than the frame window. It has been professionally float-mounted over a clean white background board to highlight its naturally aged edges without covering up any portion of the artwork.
This is a perfect piece for an office, study, library, or historic Americana collection.
