A finely embroidered rank badge roundel circa mid-late 19th c.  It has a padded metallic embroidered front facing 5-claw dragon.  It is very dramatic!  The panel was mostly created with fine couching stitches accented with long and short satin stitches in blues, gold, white, pink and red on a black silk ground.  It has four flowers around the edge which are depicted with clusters of small coral beads.  The dragon is surrounded by clouds.  Under it there are waves.  We are separately listing a companion piece which is split in two pieces.

The condition is very good for its age.  There is some fray along the outer edge.

10-½” in diameter
