In 1971, the Royal Mail employees went on strike so there were no mail deliveries in Great Britain....so the government allowed private companies or charities to deliver mail and packages and to PRINT AND SELL THEIR OWN PRIVATE POST STAMPS! 

In this case, the BOY SCOUTS earned money by delivering mail for that short period of time of the strike. These private post stamps are MUCH MORE scarce than normal postage stamps!

The full color POSTALLY VALID 1971 GB MAIL STRIKE 25p VALUE seen in the photo below is mint never hinged, with the POL Mail Service cancel, with beautiful color and in excellent condition..........
