About the Player: Dick Pole was born October 13, 1950 in Trout Creek, Michigan. Originally signed by the Red Sox as a free agent in 1968, he was acquired by the Mariners via the expansion draft on November 5, 1976. A big right-hander standing 6'3" and weighing 210 lbs, he was used both as a starter and reliever during his time with Boston, earning a roster spot during the Red Sox memorable 1975 pennant drive. He went 7-12 for the expansion Mariners in 1977, completing 3 games as a starter. He would later go on to become a well-respected pitching coach at the major league level.
