Product Introduction Product Introduction Smoke grenade launchers mounted on both sides of the hull have been added with new molds ~ The LAV for infantry platoons is here! The product is an unpainted 1/72 scale kit that requires gluing assembly and painting. The LAV is a small armored vehicle developed for strategic/battlefield mobility with 3-4 people per vehicle and procurement and deployment by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force began in 2002. It is wheeled 4x4 all-wheel drive and equipped with a 4.8L diesel turbo engine. It has five entry/exit doors and a hatch on top where a gun mount can be installed. The reconnaissance version is deployed to reconnaissance units under each division/brigade and its external features include a rack on top and in recent years an antenna mast has been added above the driver's door. The product models the early model (without bulletproof rear glass/towing hook) to the current model (with wire cutter base). Two vehicles are included in one package. It is possible to build one company commander's vehicle and one vehicle equipped with a 5.56mm MINIMI or two vehicles equipped with a gun launcher. ・Four smoke grenade launchers for two vehicles are provided as new dedicated parts. ・Parts equipped with antenna mounts and antenna wires are provided. Parts are made separately for vehicles without antenna wires. ・The hull is a single molded part using a slide mold. ・The base of the wire cutter is represented by engraving on the ceiling surface. ・By installing an additional antenna mount above the driver's door it is possible to build one company commander's vehicle and one vehicle equipped with a 5.56mm MINIMI. ・The glass can be selected between bulletproof and standard glass from the initial procurement. ・The machine gun mount and upper hatch can be selected to be open or closed and are designed to rotate. ・Dedicated upper rack parts for one headquarters company/intelligence platoon vehicle are included. ・The antenna mounts on both sides of the rear are made separately for vehicles with or without antenna wires allowing selection of the antenna mounting position and number. - The 5.56mm MINIMI machine gun features a three-dimensional design with the gun shield and machine gun body as separate parts. - The additional antenna mount can be displayed with or without an antenna. - Two types of radios are included for the vehicle: a wide-area multi-purpose radio and a conventional field radio. - The rear towing hook is a separate part allowing for the reproduction of the early procurement model which did not have one. - The shovel is a separate part so that it can be displayed with or without a shovel. - The front and rear lights are made of clear molded parts. - The included decals mainly feature markings for the infantry used in the company commander's vehicle and numbered companies. - Unit markings for the 36th Infantry Regiment and the 1st Airborne Brigade Infantry Battalion are included.
