The 1970 Hardie-Ferodo 500 marked the first Bathurst victory for Allan Moffat, who drove the mighty Ford XW Falcon GT-HO Phase II to a commanding solo victory for the Ford works team. Moffat qualified on pole and delivered a near-flawless performance across 130 laps of Mount Panorama, leading Ford to a dominant 1–2 finish. The win cemented the GT-HO Falcon’s reputation as Australia’s ultimate muscle-era touring car and launched Moffat’s legendary Bathurst career.

Moffat is a four time Championship and four time Bathurst winner, along with being in the V8 Supercar Hall of Fame.
