Most Common Problems After Installing a New Oxygen Sensor
1：Incorrect OE / part number
The new oxygen sensor does not match the vehicle’s year, model, engine type or position (front/rear).
2：Front/rear oxygen sensors mixed up
Front and rear O2 sensors have different functions and signal characteristics; they are not interchangeable.
3：Old trouble codes not cleared
The ECU still stores previous fault codes, causing the check engine light to remain on even after replacement.
4：Loose or damaged wiring / connector
Poor contact, corrosion, water damage or broken wires lead to no signal or heating circuit failure.
5：Leak in the exhaust system
Exhaust leaks near the sensor cause false lean readings and trigger error codes.
6：Sensor not properly tightened
Gaps or air leakage around the mounting thread affect measurement accuracy.
8：ECU not completed relearning / adaptation
The engine control unit needs driving cycles to recognize the new sensor; temporary codes may appear before adaptation.
9：Defective catalytic converter
If the catalytic converter is faulty, the rear oxygen sensor is the most easily misjudged part.
The rear O2 sensor is used to monitor the condition of the catalytic converter.
If the catalytic converter is worn out or clogged, replacing the rear O2 sensor with a new one will still cause fault codes.
