Lyle EB-3 Style SG Bass
Kasuga or Matsumoku 1960s
Japan Vintage Bizarre Bass
(Brand)
This bass hails from the dawn of Japanese guitar manufacturing, alongside brands like TEISCO, GUYATONE, and early ARIA/Greco.
(Features)
While it has a look reminiscent of Gibson and Epiphone SG basses or EB-3s, it also features PU selector switches in the TEISCO style. As Matsumoku, Kasuga, and Kawai were responsible for most guitar production at the time, it shares interesting commonalities with other bizarre basses from brands like ARIA and Greco!
Bizarre basses are not typically known for their comfortable playability, and that's part of their historical charm. However, this instrument, despite being 50-60 years old, plays surprisingly well, comparable to modern basses.
It's lightweight, and despite being solid, it has a hollow-body feel... a concentrated essence of retro bass charm! ✨
